About Hippo
HIPPO was founded in 2002 to provide a nimble alternative to clunky metal skips, by inventing HIPPOBAGs. Hippo started small in Hampshire but like any great idea they have grown at an incredible rate over the years. Within weeks, they were stocked in thousands of Britain’s best-known DIY retail stores, so anyone could pop down the road and buy a bag. In the midst of all this, HIPPO had started to support small, medium and large businesses across the country with unique solutions to their individual waste needs.
Today HIPPO works with some of the UK's most iconic organizations and brands so don't be surprised to see a big yellow HIPPOBAG on a street near you. By 2006 HIPPO had collected more than 100,000 HIPPOBAGs and was recognized as ‘Innovation Business of the Year’ at the RBS Regional Business Awards. The ‘Grants up For Grabs’ scheme that has since supported dozens of worthy causes across the UK, was also launched in 2006, and was the beginning of HIPPO’s charity support.
