About Chisholm Hunter
Chisholm Hunter first opened its doors in Victorian Glasgow in 1857 on Chisholm Street. The store was once called the "Store of 10,000 Wonders." It had a wide range of rare items, such as fine jewelry and precious gems from all over the world. It quickly became known for making even the pickiest customers happy with its wide range of treasures, and because of this, it did very well in its early years.
But in the first half of the 20th century, Chisholm Hunter's luck changed. Like the rest of the UK, the business had to deal with the effects of the Great Depression and the First and Second World Wars. Chisholm Hunter kept doing business from Glasgow after the wars, but it was hard until 1993, when gemologist Harry Brown bought the company.
